Shelley holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (with Distinction), served as Team Captain of the Women’s Varsity Basketball team (achieving All-American honors) as well as Captain of the Tennis Team at the United States Naval Academy. She was awarded the Naval Academy Alumni Association Award for the Class of 1987, for the midshipman who most exemplified the character and mission of the Academy. She has used those experiences throughout her adult life. She has had the opportunity to volunteer in many capacities, both as a junior officer and as a parent at Rocky Mount Elementary, Simpson Middle School and Lassiter High School. She was also the volunteer coordinator for Stingrays Swimming Club for over 10 years, as well as being a church school co-teacher at Transfiguration Catholic Church. In addition, Shelley served on the Service Academy Nominations Board for both Congressman Tom Price and Congresswoman Karen Handel. Shelley and her husband of 32 years, Brian, have been residents of Cobb County for over 22 years.
Shelley is the proud wife of Brian O’Malley (US Naval Academy Class of 1986 – Admiral Calvert Award winner for exemplary leadership, academic and athletic excellence). He is a former Naval Flight Officer, previously employed by two Fortune 500 companies, a 17- year business owner, and current Senior Program Manager for CROFT (Architectural and Engineering firm). Brian has served as homeowner’s association president, coached several youth teams, and is currently a GHSA basketball official.

Shannon [Rocky Mount Elementary, Simpson and Johnson Ferry Baptist Middle Schools, Lassiter High School (4-year State Swim Champion), University of Georgia, Class of 2015.] Shannon was an All-American, 4 x Scholar All-American, Team Captain (2015) for the National Champion swim team, and an Olympic Trial qualifier in 2012 and 2016. Shannon is currently employed by Boston Consulting Group and also coaches for Swim Atlanta, the largest club swim team in America.
Lauren (Rocky Mount Elementary, Simpson Middle School, Lassiter High School; US Naval Academy Class of 2019) At the U.S. Naval Academy Lauren was Brigade Commander (highest ranking student), NCAA Varsity Swimmer for 4 years; Naval Post Graduate School Bowman Scholarship Award Recipient (Master’s Degree Program) and will be a US Navy Nuclear Surface Warfare Officer.
Luke (Rocky Mount Elementary, Simpson Middle School, Lassiter High School Freshman). In his short time in high school, Luke has received Lassiter Principal’s Award, Lassiter Football Coach’s Award, and Varsity Football Letter. He is a member of the Swim Team and hopes to join the Baseball Team in the spring. He also volunteers in church as an altar server.
